South Korea has already received the world’s attention. For the reason that the 21st South Korean parliamentary election. It is being held for the legislature or national assembly at a time when the Coronavirus has hit the world.
1. Background of the election

The South Korean National Assembly, has a total of 300 seats. Also 253 members elected by-election, and 47 members by the proportional party-list system. So Korea is a multi-party system.
According to the constitution, elections should be held every four years, which was previously held on April 13, 2016. So the Democratic Party led by Kim Chong-In and won 123 seats. While the current Liu-Korea party, the Liberty Korea Party, led by Kim Mo-soon, who won the 2012 election, won only 122 seats.
2. Is it the correct time to hold the election?

According to South Korean election law, elections are scheduled for April 15, 2020, and are held from 6 am to 6 pm. Since 2009, Koreans living abroad have been given the opportunity to vote.
It is in such a backdrop that this year’s election is particularly noteworthy. As coroners around the world are holding their peak and countries like France and Sri Lanka are holding their elections. In South Korea, there are currently 10,635 cases and 230 deaths.
3. Preparations of parties in South Korean election

Furthermore United Future group is a combination of the Liberty Korea Party, the Conservative Party and the Onward For Future group, and the Future Korea Party, a smaller party.
The Mixed Member Proportional System (MOP) system was used in the election, where voters could cast their preference for one candidate and another for a party.
4. Results of the South Korean election

The results of the elections released on the same night. So the ruling Democratic Party won 180 of the total 300 seats, winning 163 out of 253 electoral votes and securing 17 proportionate party lists in South Korean election. That number has surpassed the 123 seats it received in 2016, according to international critics. While United Future won only 103 seats, including 84 electoral-level victories and 17 seats on the proportional party list. This is a reduction in the number of seats obtained by the Korean Liberty Party last year. Furthermore, third place won by the Justice Party of Mrs. Sim Sang Jung with six seats.
